Filming..

Today my partner Poppy and I went filming up Portlet Commen, for the first time.
It was really exciting, because it is our real film that we will be editing soon, and all the ideas just came in my head and I wanted to get them out and start filming.
I did shot one today, which was the only shot I could do at this stage because we didn't have our friend, but that was fine.
We used the Cannon XL2, which is great because of the quality and how it dosen't film every little bit of motion.
In my scene I used point of view shot, ariel view, tried to create the Saw shot and other different ones.
We also had the idea of creating flashes of Vanessa's face on the screen, and to do this we had to film the landscape, and then film vanessa in the same place again, by doing this we can add her face into the clip and it will look like it was all done in one clip, which is fantastic!
When I was filming I found that ideas came in my head, and I just wanted to try and do them all even if they seemed silly, I want this intro to be really good and so does my partner Poppy.
It was very time consuming, it took us around three hours to do 3 scenes, but I think that it was all worth it and will be in the end!
Today was very worth while and I hope each time we film every scene it will be just like today!!!

The Equipment we used:

Canon XL2 (the beast)

Tripod
We used the tripod to create steady shots, rather than wobbly out of focus ones, it helps to keep it in the right place all the time and it good for quick turns and moving up and down steadily.

Stepladder
We used the stepladder to create ariel shots of Vanessa walking by, we wanted to make a variation of shots rather than the same ones all the way through the film.

Beanbags (for the cannon XL2)
We used the bean bags so that we could lay the camera on the floor and it would be at the right angle, rather than us having to lie on the muddy wet floor and holding it in weird positions to get the right shot, which would make it wobbly and not very good.

Canon powershot A540 (for pictures to put on our blog)
We used this because we thought it would be fun to take pictures of ourselves doing the first shoot, it is nice to show the fun we had during the filming and the problems we had, also.

White T-shirt/nighty
Vanessa wore a T-shirt like this, and we got the right look across hopefully!

Problems:

- The weather was a bit of a problem, because we had to cover the camera with a towel, which was annoying because it was harder to use, but then the weather improved, that was lucky.

- The wet floor, it was tricky to sit down or put yourself on it when filming because we had to be careful of the camera and our clothes, we didn't want to get dirty!

- The stony floor! vanessa had sore feet after the shoot, she even got something in her foot and Poppy had to piggy back her some places!

- The equipment is very heavy, and hard to carry around to different locations, but it is very good quality,
